Sara Elizabeth Whiteside Farris, 91, a lifelong resident of Maury County, TN, died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM at South Gate Church of Christ with Richard Farris, Barry Farris, Joe Macer and John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Old Well Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at South Gate Church of Christ.

Born on March 26, 1934 in Hampshire, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Whiteside and the late Elva Iris Smith Whiteside. She was valedictorian of the Hampshire High School class of 1952 and attended Columbia Business College. On December 13, 1957 she married Clyde Waller Farris and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2017. In addition to being a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother, she worked several years as a cashier at Columbia Power and Water Systems. She was a long time member of South Gate Church of Christ where she was active in the Ladies Bible classes.
Survivors include her daughter Iris Jane Farris Anderson (Jim) of Columbia; son Richard Waller Farris (Rhonda) of Columbia; granddaughters, Blair Elizabeth Farris Beckham (Blake), Baylie Ann Farris Vincent (Tucker), Samantha Paige “Samie” Anderson Beard (Kellen), and Shelby Jane Anderson Wortman (Ross); great grandchildren Jazlyn Grace Beckham, Bowen Farris Beckham, Jackson Clay Vincent, and Sutton Elizabeth Wortman.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Alice Whiteside Delk.
Pallbearers will be Blake Beckham, Tucker Vincent, Kellen Beard, Ross Wortman, Jim Anderson, and Richard Farris. Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Primm, Mike Bone, Jeff Brown, Blake Hight, Ken Spahr, Gerry Sanders, and Kent Bell. The family would like to express a special thanks to her special friend Betty Turner, caregivers, Olivia Whiteside, Jill Lemons, and Jan Glover and the staff of NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
