FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation ServicesSara Ferne Irwin, 82, passed away on February 8, 2026, in Augusta, GA. She was born in Los Angles, California to Ferne and Hardy Clark. She was raised in South Dakota by her foster parents, Joseph and Ella Lubner who she considered her family.
She attended school in South Dakota. She lived in various places including Fort Collins, CO and Aiken, SC.
She worked as a secretary for Simplex Grinnell Fire and Safety and as a home health aide for University Home Health.
She was a faithful Christian serving God all her life. She enjoyed singing in the choir doing that at various churches over the years. She also served on church committees. She attended various churches in her lifetime.
She loved to quilt, knit and sew completing numerous projects throughout the years. She also loved cats and had various cats over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and foster parents. She is survived by her foster sister, Naomi Anderson, her special friend, Patsy Battle and various other friends.
Sara always put others before herself and worked hard at everything she did. She was a loyal and loving friend.
A special thank you to Help Hands Hospice for the care they provided and the staff at Tapley’s personal care home for the care they provided.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church on February 21 at 2:00 pm.
