Sara Taylor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the remarkable age of 91. Though she reached a beautiful milestone few ever do, she was often told, "you don't look 91", a testament to her timeless grace and radiant spirit.
Born on August 13, 1934, in Greenville, South Carolina, Sara was a daughter of the late Roy Vaughn Sr. and Marie Slaten Vaughn.
Sara cherished her family above all else, living to see five generations blessed by her love, wisdom, and warmth. Married to her devoted husband, Robert Taylor Jr., for 65 wonderful years, the two built a life grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Always ladylike and impeccably put together, Sara carried herself with quiet elegance and dignity. She was known for her great sense of humor, her devotion to her family, and a resilience that carried her through every obstacle life placed before her.
Full of life and love, Sara's presence lit up every room she entered. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Taylor McCarter; beloved sons in law, Jim McCarter (Patricia) and Steve Roberson, (Angie); her grandchildren, Jamie McCarter (Tammy), and Jennifer "GiGi" McKelvey; great-grandchildren, Jacob McCarter (Brianna), Jessica McCarter, Taylor McKelvey, Mason McKelvey, Sara Rose McKelvey; the 5th generation great-great grandchildren, Emory and Dawson McCarter; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sara was preceded in death by her daughter, Angelia "Angie" Roberson, and siblings, Roy Jr, Earl, and Naomi Stone.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of her niece, Cindy Stone, to the Whitten Center Parents Club 1175 Newberry Shores Dr. Prosperity, SC 29127.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, at Mountain View Memorial Park, Travelers Rest.
