Sarah Bryte Carpenter Withrow

Sarah Bryte Carpenter Withrow (82) passed peacefully on June 24, 2025. Sarah was born on New Year's Day in 1943 as an only child to Miles Alexander Carpenter & Bryte Bess Carpenter. Born in Salisbury, NC, she spent her childhood in Cooleemee, NC, where her father was the mill superintendent. Small town life suited her; the family had the first residential telephone in the whole town. Sarah joked and laughed about her first phone number: "9". After graduating from Davie County Consolidated High School, she pursued a teaching degree at Appalachian State Teacher's College (later university). Sarah worked with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools until she married Alan Withrow of Charlotte. She worked alongside her husband continuing to build a property management and development business. Becoming single again, she re-entered the school system in 1978. She taught Chapter 1 reading and math for years before settling into her beloved third grade. She retired from Huntingtown Farms Elementary School.
The loves and joys of Sarah's life were her two grandsons, Alex and Pierce, and the many fur babies she loved throughout her life. In her younger years she was an avid tennis player and an award-winning bowler at Park Lanes. She has resided at The Sharon - SouthPark since June 2014.
The family extends deep and sincere appreciation to the loving and patient staff of The Sharon, to Via Health Partners - Hospice of Charlotte, and to Taneka Cannon, her personal companion caregiver.
Sarah is survived by Charlotte family; son: Christopher Alan Withrow (Thaedra); daughter Robyn Bryte Withrow (Beth Arcilesi); and by grandsons: Lennon Alexander Withrow (Taylor) and Pierce Gregory Withrow.
