Sarah Godfrey

Sarah Godfrey, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in her hometown of Canton, GA, at the age of 81. Born on May 21, 1944, in the same town where she would spend her entire life. Sarah was known for her beautiful soul, caring heart, and the feisty spirit that she carried with her through all chapters of her life.
Sarah enjoyed cooking and gardening. Shopping was another delightful escapade or just going out "loafering". Sarah could often be found sitting on her front porch enjoying conversation while sharing wisdom and laughter in equal measure.
She had a deep love for her family and was very proud of each of them, always enjoying the time-shared imprinting memories in their heart.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jay" Godfrey; son, Jonathan Godfrey; and brothers, Max Rogers and Quillen Rogers.
Survivors are her daughters, Jamiee Marsh (Brett) and Sally Decker (Kevin); sister, Mary Ruth Hall; grandchildren, Autumn Clark, Clint Decker, Brittiny Bagshaw, Blake Cowart, Jada Cline and Jayce Cline; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ken May officiating. Interment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20th from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
