Below are the words of Matt Garman, the Leader of AWS who knew Sarah and contributions she made working at AWS for over 10 years. She was an important part of building the foundation of what is the AWS Sales Organization today.
Sarah joined AWS in November 2011 as a Sales Development Rep in the Mid-Market Territory Organization, where she focused on Start-ups in Silicon Valley such as Mozilla, GitHub, Coinbase, Circle Cl, Arterys, and Secret. Sarah helped build our culture on the sales team, while impacting so many others throughout the AWS organization. A pioneer in helping us define what cloud computing sales looked like for our customers, she paved the way within the AWS sales profession for so many other women. Sarah's smile, excitement to work with her peers, engagement with her customers, and creative energy will never be forgotten.
After an incredible engagement within territory, Sarah worked on the Enterprise team and focused on SAP, and then Starbucks. Her professional achievements showcase her drive and success throughout her career here. Sarah's contribution to the SAP relationship changed how SAP does business with AWS. She facilitated executive relationships and earned the trust of this global company. One of the most impactful customer outcomes in 2019 was driven through Sarah's execution of the first Experienced Based Acceleration exercise in the West Enterprise Segment.
One of Sarah's strongest LPs was Hire and Develop the Best. She was always willing to give back to the organization through time and training. Sarah was the first AE in the Territory Segment to be named an AWS Bar Raiser and the only L5 in the AWS non-tech Bar Raiser community when she joined the program in 2016. Since then, Sarah led over 300 interview loops and also became a BR Mentor for many individuals in the BRIT program. Sarah also became a Doc Bar Raiser as she continued to raise the bar for writing excellence.
AWS will not be the same without Sarah Mikesell.
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Sarah will be held at Canyon Hills Community Church on March 12, at 11:00 A.M. [email protected]
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Seattle Union Gospel Mission, Professional Women's Group, Seattle Humane Society, Seattle Marines Toys For Tots, or Whisker City Feline Rescue and Enrichment, organizations Sarah felt strongly about.
