Sarah “Sally” Lindsay, 74, of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on October 9, 2025, surrounded by the family she so deeply loved.

Born August 26, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio, Sally was the heart of every room — quick to laugh, quicker to love, and never without candles lit or a perfectly set table. She was the devoted wife of David, her husband of 51 years, and a fiercely proud mother to Ben (Nicole) Lindsay and Mason Lindsay. Nothing brought her more joy than her six grandchildren: Mallory, James, Thomas, Ella Grace, Jane, and Mia — each of whom she doted on endlessly with “Grandma Camp” summers, cookie-baking traditions, and quartz hunting in the creek. She is also survived by her sisters Susan Lynch, Martha (Joe) Wolfe, and Mary (Linda) Story. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jim and Jane Story.

Sally graduated from Columbus North High School in 1969, where she was head cheerleader and homecoming queen, and later earned a double major in Education and English from The Ohio State University. She began her career teaching middle school English in Groveport and later served as Director of Clintonville Academy for 35 years. Sally Lindsay was more than a former leader of Clintonville Academy — she was part of its heart. With unwavering dedication, vision, and warmth, she helped shape the school into the vibrant, nurturing place it is today. Sally believed in people, saw the best in them, and poured her energy into building a community rooted in kindness, learning, and belonging. Her legacy lives on in every student, teacher, and family touched by her presence.

She loved fiercely and fully — hosting joyful family gatherings, planting flowers in her garden, and sleeping on the screened-in porch until the Ohio chill finally forced her back inside. A passionate and creative cook, Sally filled her kitchen with laughter, good food, and the comforting scent of something always simmering or baking. She loved nothing more than sharing meals that brought people together. She was also an amazing photographer, always capturing the perfect moments of family and nature — preserving memories with an artist’s eye and a grandmother’s heart.

Wednesday night dinners and sunrise chats with her granddaughter Mallory were sacred rituals. And wherever she and David went, laughter followed — whether at home, out with friends, or during happy hour with strangers who soon became family.

Sally lived with heart, humor, and unwavering kindness. She faced her cancer diagnosis with courage and grace, determined to keep loving, laughing, and living as fully as possible.

A proud member and volunteer at Liberty United Methodist Church in Johnstown, Sally believed in serving others — a legacy that lives on in all who were lucky enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at North Broadway United Methodist Church, East North Broadway Street, Columbus, Ohio. Reception to follow. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church 5807 Louden St  Johnstown, Ohio 43031— in honor of a life lived with boundless love and purpose.
