Sarah Heard Stallings

Sarah Frances Heard Stallings, age 94, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025. She was born on December 26, 1930, to the late William Arthur Heard and Addie Mae Griggs Heard.
A proud graduate of Fulton County High School, Sarah devoted her life to faith, family, and community. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a proud grandmother whose home was a haven of warmth, comfort, and joy. A woman of deep faith, Sarah was a longtime and faithful member of Whitesburg Christian Church. Even when her health no longer allowed her to attend in person, she continued to worship through daily prayer, scripture reading, and song.
Sarah was a dedicated homemaker and spent more than twenty years serving as a Library Clerk at both the East Point Library and the Carrollton Library. She was beloved by patrons and coworkers alike for her kind spirit, sharp wit, and deep love of books. A lifelong learner and naturally creative, she had a gift for art-sketching faces, painting, and even drawing house plans and fashion designs. She found joy in sharing her creativity and imagination with those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emmette Carl Stallings; her sister, Christine Heard; and her brothers, Harold Heard, Harry Heard, Charlie Heard, Jim Heard, Rob Heard, and Jack Heard.
She is survived by her devoted sons, David Stallings and his partner, Susie Hill; Gordon Stallings and his wife, Phyllis Stallings; and Philip Stallings. Sarah also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Sarah Amanda Stallings, Carrie Lynne Stallings, and Baily Hartman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever remember her grace, kindness, and unwavering love.
A graveside service celebrating Sarah's life will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Liberty Christian Church in Temple, Georgia, with Minister Caryl Strange officiating. The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
