Saundra Sue Lackey
May 27, 1942 – December 7, 2023
Saundra Sue Lackey, known as "Tu Tu" by her friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona at the age of 81.
Tu Tu and Larry met in Perryton, Texas in the summer of 1954, she was 12 and he was 14. They lived across the street from each other and started going together. They got engaged in May of 1960 when they were 18 and 20. They both moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where Tu Tu attended Beauty School. After, they went back home to Texas and married on September 9, 1960.
Two years later they started a family. Their son, Larry Joe, was born May 9, 1962. One year later we had a very tiny baby girl named Shelly, she was a preemie and weighed 3 lbs.
During their marriage they lived in the Texas Panhandle from 1960-1998. From there, they moved to Southern California until Dec. 2007 and finally settled in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Tu Tu is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry E. Lackey of Lake Havasu; Her son Larry Joe Lackey (Katie Lackey) also of Lake Havasu; Her daughter, Shelly Lackey, Christine Jones. Her three grandchildren, Austin (Crystal Lackey), Jodi (Dave Matthews), and Cale (Julia Lackey) whom she loved dearly and are her pride & joy. All of her "greats": Skylynn, Hailee Mae, Maesynn, Madison, Lily, and Lilah, Oryn, Archer and Jade. Her great-great-grandson Maverick. Her niece Stephanie Barber and her husband Mike, her great nephew Dylan and family, Taylor and her family, great niece Maddison and her family.
Tu Tu is proceeded in death by her parents Gene and Grace Akers, her sister Jeannie Allen, niece Johnna Wilkerson, her in laws E.V. "Dutch" and Veda Fern Lackey. Many precious aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends that she loved.
