John Edward Lackey, 79, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025, at VITAS Hospice Care. John was born July 22, 1946, in Richmond, IN, to Walter and Grace Muddell Lackey. He lived most of his life in Liberty, IN. John retired from Federal Equipment Co., where he worked for 27 years. He married the former Pamela Wallen on February 7, 1976. John loved to work hard and was an avid recycler in his spare time.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, John is survived by his daughter, Crystal Speer (John); John Lackey Jr. (Erika); four grandkids: Heather (Brian), Samantha (Ian), Bryn, and Drew; three great-grandkids: Ava, Bently, and Parker; and numerous extended family and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Grace; three brothers and four sisters; and a great-granddaughter, Addison. At John's request, a celebration of life will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in John's name can be made to an organization of your choice or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements for John Edward Lackey are under the direction of Legacy Options Fort Myers.
