Scott C. Amick, 66 of Scott City, Missouri died Sunday, March 24 at his home. He was born September 25, 1957 in Cape Girardeau to Olliver Charles and Betty Jo St. Clair Amick. He married Leann Miller in November 10, 2011.
Scott was a 1976 graduate of ISC and a 1979 graduate of Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He was an owner/partner of Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel along with Mark S. Amick and Jack Leslie Burnett serving the community for forty-two years, He served as Scott County Coroner for thirty-five years where he was past president of Missouri Coroners and Medical Examiners Association, a member of Missouri Funeral Directors Association. was also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, served twenty years on the Scott City School Board and reffed High School Basketball for fifteen years, avid Cardinal fan, avid runner participating in many 5K races and announced and kept clock for many a Scott City football game.
He is survived by his wife, Leann of the home; his mother, Betty J. Amick of Scott City; two sons, Brandon (Whitney) Amick of Scott City and Blake (Jess Hinkle) Amick of Scott City; three daughters, Britne Amick of St. Louis, Missouri, Ashley (Carmon) Jackson and Rhiannon Amick of Scott City; stepson, Austin ( Elaine) Carroll of Chaffee; stepdaughters, Lachelle (Carlos) Diaz of Jackson, two brothers, Mark (Gail) Amick of Chaffee and Rand (Cindy) Amick of New Madrid; two sisters, Penny ( Ed) Taylor of Scott City and Sally ( Pat) O'Brien of Benton; nine grandchildren; Liam, Owen, Camden, Callen, Elle, Waylon, Kendrick, Arlo and Addilynn.
He was preceded in death by his father, Olliver Charles Amick.
A special thanks to Leann's parents, Tommy and Anna Miller for their heartfelt dedication for taking care of Scott in his final years.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the FEMA Building at Scott City High School.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Wilk as celebrant.
Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Scott City High School Athletic Department.
