Scott Antony Obituary
Scott A. Antony
Scott Alan Antony, loving husband, father, brother, friend and mentor, was 61 when he passed peacefully on April 26th, 2024 after a long and inspiring battle against melanoma cancer. He leaves behind his wife and soulmate of 34 years, Virginia, daughters, Danielle and Kayle, and his son, Brandon. His greatest joy in life was his family.
The world was blessed with a true leader and coach the day he was born, June 5, 1962 to Mike and Mary Antony in New Ulm, MN. Scott was a proud and loyal brother to Dean, Gregg, Mona and Todd and valued family and his faith greatly. He was a true inspiration to many and made it his mission to live out his purpose: "to be a coach, that inspires, motivates, and educates others to find their best self," of which he will always be remembered as amongst colleagues, friends and family.
Growing up Scott was incredibly active in sports, running, but primarily playing basketball. He soon took his love of the game into coaching local leagues and always made sure to lead with passion in all that he pursued.
Scott graduated from UW Milwaukee and quickly pursued a career in sales, eventually serving 33 years working with Unilever. Overcoming many moves with his family and various company restructures, he was persistent and extremely accomplished as a leader within his organization who was often sought out as a mentor to many throughout. This continued even after his retirement in 2020. His drive, larger than life personality, strong business acumen and his stressed importance on building meaningful relationships guided him throughout his successful career and inspired so many as a guide both personally and professionally.
Shortly after retiring, Scott was unfortunately diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma Cancer that he was told had metastasized. Despite the discomfort of this news, Scott never once gave up and immediately became determined to fight and beat his horrible diagnosis, diving into research himself, seeking out alternative methods of care and above all, maintaining a positive attitude and immense gratitude for life. He also made a point to share his new knowledge and lessons with everyone and anyone who would let him, a true "coach". He continued head strong until the bitter end, rebuilding his spirit, mind and body. His main focus became reconnecting with his faith and leaning on his incredible support system of family and friends. "Riding to the sound of the battle" as he always said.
Scott will forever be remembered as an incredible father, supportive and caring husband, encouraging and larger than life human with infectious energy that lit up every room he entered. Above all, his determination to live out his purpose as a coach will never be forgotten.
A Mass will be held in Scott's honor on May 10th, 2024 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 630 Wayzata Blvd East in Wayzata at 11 AM and visitation starting at 10 AM followed by a celebration of life hosted at Birches on the Lake from 12:30-4PM.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations can be made in his honor to The V Foundation, a cause Scott held close to his heart, or to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, where Scott and his family worship.

I'm saddened to hear of Scott's passing. Scott led the Unilever Sales Team with drive and passion for his customers, but his devotion to his family made it evident that they were his greatest source of pride and joy.

From a professional standpoint, I appreciate that he welcomed the Supply Chain Team to participate in annual sales meetings, team-building exercises, and training sessions and that he and Virginia generously hosted holiday gatherings at their home. Those actions made a lasting impression and built a cohesive team and camaraderie that I fondly remember to this day.

Personally, I will always remember his inclusiveness and the accommodations he made when I returned to work from maternity leave after having my youngest. His kindness during that time, in particular, was very much appreciated.

My heartfelt condolences to Virginia and the kids.
