A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue Friday, November 7, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the services at 1:00 PM.

Scott was a man of many words; He loved to talk for hours about work and never met a stranger. His generosity was overwhelming when it came to helping people as he helped even when not asked to. The care and concern he showed for this family and employees was in abundance and how he treated and provided for the ones he cared about and depended on him.

Scott was a hands-on man and loved to work whether it was at home remodeling after remodeling, at the farm riding his side by side with his best friend Blue, bush hogging, poisoning, or tearing things down and operating all his equipment or at Wellhead, designing and building equipment for work. He had a huge passion for the oilfield and the company he and his wife built together. Scott was a hard-working entrepreneur who was determined to build his vision of Wellhead Support Systems to provide the safest and most dependable system to his customers. He built his company piece by piece, fabricating and adapting as he grew, and often following his units around the country as owner and operator. He sacrificed many long days and clocked countless miles away from home and family to bring his vision to fruition, slowly building his dream and his team to provide the best service and equipment he could. Scott respected hard work, dependability, and integrity in the people around him, He'd reward that with generosity and selflessness. He loved to care for and entertain the men who worked around him, often catering for an entire job, providing food and supplies. No job was beneath him. Scott had a certain sense of pride that could be seen by others in the way he presented his company's equipment by always delivering the best looking and most dependable equipment around. It was often thought it was fabricated just for the customer because of the condition it was kept in, He showed his pride in the way he worked and expected the people around him to. Scott was also an amazing teacher and tried to teach everyone things he knew or had learned, always looking for the best and most efficient ways to tackle projects.

Scott will be missed dearly by so many, but his personal legacy and memory will live on, and he will be remembered for the things he has done and the great person he was.

Scott is survived by his wife, Kasey Roche Backstrom; two sons, Scott Backstrom II and Brandon Backstrom; his stepson, Cole Uriegas; his stepfather, Bradley Meaux; one sister Marcie Cartwright; and his two best friends, Blue and Red.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Danette "Doody" Meaux and his father, Micheal "Pesky" Backstrom.
