Scott Evan Buckel

Scott Evan Buckel, 61, of Westminster, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, following injuries sustained from a falling off of a ladder. Born on September 14, 1964, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Calvin Buckel Sr. and Nancy Buckel.

Scott was the kind of man who could fix anything and would drop everything to help someone in need. Whether it was a home project, a ball team, or a friend in a bind, he was there—hands dirty, tools in hand, and a smile on his face. His hardworking grit, generous heart, and quick sense of humor made him someone everyone loved to be around.

He loved coaching sports when the kids were younger and never missed a chance to cheer them on. In his downtime, Scott enjoyed a good Old Fashioned, a quiet bike ride, or simply relaxing on the couch watching the Orioles play. He could make something out of nothing with his brilliant mind and hands in construction—always building, fixing, or creating with purpose. Sports, craftsmanship, and simple moments like these were his way of staying connected to family, friends, and the life he built with hard work and heart.

Scott is survived by his children, Scott Buckel II, Amanda Richardson (and her husband, Mike Richardson), and Holly Walljasper (and her wife, Allie Walljasper); and by his granddaughter, Blakely Walljasper, daughter of Holly and Allie. He is also survived by his former spouse, Christine Kelly, mother of his children, as well as his mother-in-law, Lois Kelly.

In addition, Scott is survived by his partner, Ruth Patrick, and her family. He shared a particularly close, fatherly bond with her children, Lauren Vogel and Jonathan Vogel. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Meyers, Bruce Buckel, and Joe Buckel, and preceded in death by his sister Barbara Fenyes and brother Calvin Buckel Jr.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 2:00–6:00 PM at 1488 Carriage Hill Dr., Westminster, MD 21157, to share memories, laughter, and stories of a man who made a lasting impact on so many.

Scott’s legacy will be remembered in the things he built, the people he helped, and the love he gave so freely.
