SCOTT ALAN CANN
November 29, 1961 ~ February 2, 2025
Heaven gained an angel on February 2, 2025 in the spirit of Scott Alan Cann. He was 63 years old; way too
young! Scott was born to Delmar Robert Smith and Patricia Ann Fournier on November 29, 196l in Sandpoint, Idaho, two months prematurely. He beat the odds of survival in that time. Scott was later adopted by Richard Wayne Cann.
Scott aspired to experience the best that life had to offer and loved involving his family on ventures including Hawaii, cruises, holiday celebrations, and sporting events. He was also there to lend a hand in the form of to-do lists and major family events for his daughters, mother, brothers, sister, and friends. He loved to bowl and even won some national tournaments in the top ten percent. Scott loved the outdoors and loved to fish and organized an annual fishing trip with best friend Cliff Pepper on the coast, which he enjoyed immensely and could hardly wait for the next year.
Scott grew up a military brat, moving every three or four years to various port bases including Hawaii, California, and New York before settling in Post Falls, Idaho where he graduated high school in 1980. Scott then attended the Denver Institute of Technology,
graduating in 1982, after marrying his first wife, Diane.
In 1986, Scott enlisted in the US Army, completing Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training for Single Channel Radio Operator at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was then stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky for the remainder of his two-year active commitment. He then fulfilled his contract in the Washington National Guard and Army Reserves in Spokane, Washington. He was a
devoted soldier and loved his job.
In 1990, Scott married his second wife, Julia, and started a family with nine-year-old stepdaughter, Merica, and later added two daughters: Desiree in 1990 and Nikala in 1992. He was devoted to giving them the best, attended all of their conferences, concerts, and sporting events, and assured that his daughters had a good education. His second marriage ended in 2003 and he later found his person and life partner in Inday,
spending the last almost seven years together.
Scott's dream was to work in electronics, robotics, computing and the like, thus achieving a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering Technology from Eastern Washington University. Upon graduation in 1994, he made a successful career at SEH America in Vancouver, Washington where he remained until retiring in December, 2024. His success there included a patented invention and numerous programming projects in robotics and pneumatics. He was a top
technician there and was respected by his co-workers.
Scott is survived by his partner, Inday; his daughters: Desiree (Michael) McClellan and Nikala Cann; his mother, Patricia; his father, Robert Smith; his brother, Michael; his brother, Gregg; his sister, Debbie Cann-
Gilley; his stepdaughter, Merica; his grandchildren: Braxlee, Braelyn, and Brielee; Jayla and Alana; his nieces and nephews, and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his father Richard; his Aunt Carol; and his grandparents Neil and Pauline.
He will be forever in our hearts!
