Scott W., 62, of Haledon, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, after a long battle with lung disease. He was born on July 21st, 1962 in Englewood Hospital to Audrey Hesse Carter and George W. Carter of Rochelle Park, NJ.
Scott was the cherished nephew of Betty Jean Rice of Pensacola, FL and brother of Glenn Carter of West Milford, NJ. The loving uncle of Kelly Carter, Allison Jurgensen, and Erin Carter. He was a great uncle to his niece Allison's daughters, Oakley and Willow. He is predeceased by his sister-in-law, Marianne Carter.
Scott worked for Costa Engineering as a draftsman. Just like his brother and all of his friends growing up, he was a Grateful Dead Head through and through. From summer days spent on the golf course with his brother, to the afternoons poolside with his family. Sundays at Meadowlands with Glenn cheering for the Giants, late nights at Madison Square Garden in full Rangers attire. Full family hibachi nights and endless holidays together. Nothing short of chaos but it is guaranteed, Scott lived a fun, eventful filled life.
Scott has always loved his family and friends, but it is safe to say the most cherished part of his everyday life was his furry son, Berne. As Scott referred to as the "Royal Highness", Berne, is a rescued dog that happily spent 13 years of his best life with Scott. He loved spoiling that boy each and every day. Before his health took a turn, one of his favorite weekly activities was to go live on social media for everyone to tune into what he called "Scott in the Park". Where Scott and Berne would sit at Ridgewood Duck Pond, enjoying the sunshine and relaxing, watching the squirrels and geese run around.
As an expression of sympathy, please consider planting a tree in his memory. Late summer, early fall, we will have a memorial gathering at one of his favorite parks. Please check back here or on social media in the coming months and we will announce the location and time of the gathering.
