Scott Couey Obituary

Mr. Scott Clayton Couey, age 89, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Couey was born in Rome, Georgia on December 18, 1936, son of the late Andrew Clayton Couey and the late Clara Bell Green Couey. He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Benji Boatner and Matt Evans, by two sisters, Charlotte Chisolm and Josephine Jennings, and by two infant brothers. Mr. Couey was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. Prior to retirement, he was a millwright at General Electric in Rome. Mr. Couey was a member and Deacon at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He was a former Justice of the Peace and was a lifelong farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Morgan Couey, to whom he was married on July 3, 1958; three daughters, Diana Mills (Michael), Pamela Jo Evans (Tommy), and Debra Boatner (Ricky); three sisters, Imogene Odom, Helen Horton, and Glenda Brooks; a brother, Douglas Couey; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 4pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Boatner and Rev. Chris Lodge officiating. The Rome American Legion Honor Guard will present military honors. Interment will be at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens on Monday at 10am.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Sunday from 2:30pm until 3:45pm.
