Scott W. Haenel, born on February 27, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on October 16, 2025, suddenly in his sleep at home. He was a dedicated family man, a respected member of his community, and a passionate individual who made a positive impact through his various roles and endeavors.
Scott’s professional journey began as a mechanic, where he honed his skills and developed a strong work ethic. In 1993, he enlisted in the Army, serving his country with honor for eight years before receiving his honorable discharge. Following his military service, he transitioned into law enforcement, dedicating over twelve years to serve and protect his community. His relentless spirit and commitment to service did not stop there; he later partnered with his brother, Mike, to establish a successful construction company.
Education played a significant role in Scott's life. He graduated from Pattonville High School, Class of 1991, and later from Rankin Technical College in 1993, where he proudly earned his Associate's Degree. His academic achievements set a foundation for his future pursuits.
Scott was known for his vibrant personality, characterized by his goofiness, quick wit, and compassion. He was described as smart, selfless, and protective of those he loved. A lifelong friend to many, Scott had an exceptional ability to connect with others and never met a stranger. His interests kept him active in the Masonic community, where he served as Captain of the Moolah Shriners Hospital Arab Patrol, reflecting his deep commitment to philanthropy and community engagement.
He found immense joy in his family, which he considered his proudest accomplishment. Scott was a devoted father to Katelyn and Mathew, actively supporting and encouraging them in their various passions, from Katelyn’s involvement in softball to Mathew’s pursuit of hockey. His love for his children was evident, as he often bragged about their talents and achievements to friends and family alike.
Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Haenel; daughter, Katelyn Haenel; son, Mathew Haenel; parents, Sherry and Jack Haenel; brother, Mike (Jeanine) Haenel; sister, Angie (Bryan) Gregory; along with nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
