Scott Dennis Haring

Scott Dennis Haring, 67, of Houston passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025 after a long battle with dementia and complications from pneumonia. Scott was born June 16, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Robert and Joan Haring. He was preceded in death by both his parents. Scott is survived by his sisters Laurie Ann Haring and partner Steven Bishop, Patricia Alice Schuljak & husband Robert James Schuljak; niece, Stephanie Schuljak Mills, husband Roger Q Mills IV & great-nephew Jackson Roger Mills; nephew Russell Stephen Schuljak & wife Kaley Hassell. He also leaves behind an aunt and numerous cousins across the U.S and Canada.
Scott graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Journalism where he was also a member of the Singing Cadets. Scott worked as a game designer throughout his career and was known for his contributions to the adventure gaming industry with work on popular role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Car Wars and Marvel Super Heroes. He authored numerous books and publications within the adventure gaming industry as well.
Scott resided in the Austin area most of his life where he shared his musical talents in community choirs as well as the Faith Presbyterian Church where he was an active member. Scott was an avid baseball fan whose knowledge of the game and its history was rivaled by few. He traveled the country to attend games at all the major league and as many minor league ballparks as possible. His adored Houston Astros finally fulfilled his lifelong wish of winning a World Series. He has a commemorative brick at the Astros ballpark in his honor.
The memorial gathering and reception for Scott will be held on Saturday, July 12th at 11:00am at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (12955 Memorial Dr. Houston, Tx 77079) in the Friendship Court.
