Scott Helton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 29, 2023.
FORT WORTH - Scott Daniel Helton passed away on 1/20/2023 on his 61st birthday after a lengthy and valiant battle with cardiomyopathy and heart failure.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 6 in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5 at Greenwood.
Scott was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where he graduated from Castleberry High School in 1980. He received an Associate of Science degree from Tarrant County College in 1990.
In January, 1992, his world was rocked when he met Tina Ferguson in (of all places) a Human Relations Psychology class at Tarrant County College. Soon he whisked her away in his beloved Pontiac Fiero and he never let her go. They joked that they analyzed each other for a long time until they married in 1994. They celebrated 28 years of marriage in 2022.
He worked at Behr Climate Systems in an environmental wind tunnel working on 18 wheeler truck HVAC design and testing from 1995-2001.
He worked at AT&T for 21 years. His last position was as a Network Center Technician, where he performed testing, surveillance, and trouble shooting for the U-Verse network.
Scott had a lifelong fascination with volcanoes and the recent eruptions of so many around the world held him transfixed in front of the TV where he could watch them live through YouTube. He also loved to watch every Marvel Movie and streaming series. He could tell you the plot, actors names, and the sequence of any of them, and he could still watch them over and over again. He had a gift of being able to tell you the story of any movie or book he had seen or read as though he was reliving them.
He was an avid science, history, science fiction, and sitcom fan and enjoyed the shows that went along with those genres. His dog was even named after Penny from The Big Bang Theory.
Scott and Tina worked different shifts at AT&T for many years. They typically saw each other only on weekends. As a result, they said they "dated" all those years. They were crazy about each other, best friends, complemented each other well, and were always holding hands. They often heard, "Awwwwwww y'all are so cute!" from people they didn't know after being spotted holding hands together. Tina asks that you realize love is the greatest gift two people can give each other in a lifetime.
1 Corinthians 13:13.... And now these three remain; Faith, Hope, and Love; and the greatest of these is love.
Scott was predeceased by his parents, Carthell and Doris Helton; and his sister, Margaret Helton Rodgers.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Helton of Fort Worth; nephew, Marc and his wife, Gena Rodgers of North Richland Hills; niece, Annetrea Rodgers Cassens, and her husband, Brent of Round Rock; brother-in-law, Johnny Rodgers and his wife, Martha of Athens; father and mother-in-law, Bobby and Ethel Thurman of Benbrook; brothers-in-law, Larry Ferguson and his wife, Cyndie of Midlothian and Bruce Ferguson and his wife, Heidi of Fort Worth; great-nieces, Autumn and Violet Cassens; great-nephew, Logan Rodgers; and his most faithful "fluff bucket" dawg, Penny.
