Scott Daniel Kolstead passed away October 14, 2024 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines, Iowa. He was born September 11, 1957 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa to Wayne and Jane (Kromrie) Kolstead. He grew up on the East Side of Des Moines attending Wallace and Douglas Elementary Schools, May Goodrell Junior High School, East Des Moines High School (Class of 1975) and later Drake University.

From horses to insects, he treated all creatures with a gentle touch and loving heart. Some of his hobbies were stamp and record album collecting, gardening, reading about ancient history, art and listening to music. He spent many hours manicuring his flower garden in the backyard of his Altoona home.
Scott was an incredibly reliable person. Working at Norwest Bank and Wells Fargo for over 30 years, he was proud to have never missed a day of work. He retired from Wells Fargo in 2013. After his retirement, he moved in with his brother, Mark, and sister-in-law, Laurie. Many happy memories were created during the three years living with him. During this time together he also created a special bond with his canine nephew, Ike. Scott will be remembered for being a gentle, kind, helpful and agreeable person.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Laurie Kolstead, aunt, Norine Clayton, aunt, Janet (Jim) Zimmerline, and many cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
