Scott Mauney, age 90, of Crown Creek, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Wendover Hospice House. He was born August 20, 1934, in Gaston County, to the late John Ray and Roxanne Yount Mauney.

Scott was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the men’s Sunday School Class, as well as a church Deacon and Elder. He also taught Sunday School. He retired from the parts department of Carolina Freight Carriers after 43 years of service. He was also a member, and Past Master, of Cherryville Masonic Lodge # 505 A.F. & A.M. for over 60 years, Oasis Shriners, and the Cherryville Shrine Club. Mr. Mauney served for 15 years as a Boys Scout Leader, and he also volunteered for 17 years with Hospice of Cleveland County. Scott volunteered with the Cherryville Rescue Squad and both the Cherryville and Hughs Pond Fire Departments. He also coached Pop Warner Football and loved giving back to the Cherryville community. Scott was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time at Holden Beach with his family and many friends. He loved his family and will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Carla Craft, and grandson, Jeremy Craft.

Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Frances Hudson Mauney; children, Reba Mauney Craft (Pete), and Michael Ray Mauney (Laura); and Elaine Mauney Carlson; grandchildren, Christopher Craft (Trisha), Tricia Craft, William Mauney, Margaret Lemmer (Ranz), Evelyn Anthony (Daniel), Alexander Carlson (Meagan), and Diana Carlson; great-grandchildren, Noah Rayfield, Kennedy Craft, Mason Craft, Kylie Craft, Parks Lemmer, Niko Carlson, Jamie Anthony, Sylar Craft, Milo Carlson, Nolan Lemmer, Liam Anthony, Boone Craft, and Hayley Anthony.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:00PM to 2:15PM at First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating.

Burial will follow the service at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville with Masonic Rites given by Cherryville Masonic Lodge.

Memorials may be made to either First Presbyterian Church, 107 W. Academy Street, Cherryville, NC 28021, or Wendover Hospice of Cleveland County, 953 Wendover Heights Dr, Shelby, NC 28150.
