It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Scott (Scottie) McKay on November 11, 2024, in Rochester, New York. Born on January 29, 1988, Scottie's journey through life was far too brief but left a profoundly impactful legacy.
Scottie was a beacon of kindness and laughter, known for his unique ability to bring people together and create lasting memories. He cherished his family deeply, especially his mother, Gail Oliver, and his stepfather, Richard Oliver. As a beloved brother, he held a special place in the hearts of his sister, Lindsay Kay, her husband Zachary Kay, and daughter Emily, as well as his bonus siblings, Richie, and Brandy Oliver.
One of Scottie's most valued relationships was with his maternal grandfather, Gordon Northrup, with whom he shared a strong bond throughout his life. In addition, Scottie found true love and admiration in his fiancée, Trinity Kostecke, and took great pride in being a stepfather to Khloe.
Scottie's life was enriched by the many men who acted as father figures, offering their support and guidance when he needed it most. The family is immensely grateful for their influence and love.
Scottie leaves behind many friends that turned into family through the years. One particularly special is the friendship with Josh Ames, his wife Megan and son Arthur. Scottie cherished every moment of time spent and the ability to strengthen each other while achieving lifelong dreams.
Scottie will now be greeted by his deceased maternal grandmother, Joan Northrup, as well as his godfathers, Carl Owen, and William McDonnell. Scottie will also reunite with his great grandfathers, Elmer (Bompa) Northrup and William Lindsay. Although their time on earth was short, Scottie will be reconnected with Richard C. Kay.
Scottie was deeply proud of his work at O'Callaghan's Pub and that comes with the leadership and support provided by Roman Kucil and Tom O'Callaghan for the past 15 years. He also followed his passion and need for speed at Limerock Speedway as crew chief, support, and for the last several years on the Safety Crew. Scottie also enjoyed his work with Cedar Creek Lawn Care doing plowing and tree removal. In his downtime, Scottie was a champion pool player in several local leagues.
Scottie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. A celebration of his life will be February 8th, 2025, from 6-10pm at JW Jones Hall, 366 Leicester Rd, Caledonia, NY 14423.
