Scott Ross

Scott Thomas Ross, 72, passed away November 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with lung cancer.
Born in 1953 to Norwood and Liveria Ross, Scott was a life-long resident of East Hanover. He graduated from Hanover Park High School in 1971.
He was store manager for the family business, Ross' Foodtown in East Hanover, for more than 25 years. After the grocery store was sold, Scott became an Associate Manager at ShopRite Liquors in Caldwell for more than 15 years.
Scott married Stephanie Potoczak in 1979, raising two children for whom he coached several baseball teams and attended numerous dance recitals.
He was an avid baseball and softball player, golfer and bowler. He hit a hole-in-one, bowled two 300 games and won many local softball championships. He forged many friendships through sports that he cherished throughout his life.
Scott is survived by his wife of 46 years, Stephanie (Potoczak); his son and daughter-in-law, David and Michelle Ross of Belmont, California; his daughter, Cheryl Ross of Montclair, New Jersey; his sister, Nancy Sinnwell of Carmichael, California; and his three grandchildren, Brandon, Maya and Kevin, also of Belmont, California.
He is also survived by his brother- and sister-in-law Michael and Marcy Potoczak; his sisters-in-law MaryAnn Roon, Aniela "Peggy" Fagans and Catherine DeMouth, and his sister- and brother-in-law Julianne and Steven Fine, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Roy Roon, Gary Fagans, Ludlow DeMouth and Thaddeus Potoczak.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hancliffe Home for Funerals, 222 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
