Scott Howard Stoops, 61, of Tea, South Dakota passed from this life on October 9, 2025 with family by his side at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Scott was born in Sioux Falls on March 8, 1964 to parents Gary and Marlene (Crandall) Stoops. The family lived in Colorado for a short time before settling back in Sioux Falls, where he graduated from Washington High School. After graduating, Scott went on to work as a chef at various restaurants throughout the area, most recently at Chevy's. In 2017, Scott met the love of his life, Maxine Smith and the two were married on June 5, 2021 in Tea.

Always up for an adventure, Scott often went fishing and camping in Colorado and South Dakota. He enjoyed going to concerts and watching the Denver Broncos play football. Most of all, Scott loved time spent with his wife Maxine and his family. He was proud of becoming sober and accepting the Lord as his Savior, helping others find their way as well. A shining light in every life he touched, Scott will be dearly remembered and missed.

Scott is survived by his wife, Maxine Stoops, Tea and his trusty companion Mickey the chihuahua; siblings, Clint Nordman, Viborg, Kurt (Kara) Nordman, Westminster, CO and Jaki (Wade) Hofer, Valley Springs; niece, Olivia Newell, Lennox; aunt, Anita (Gary) LaVassaur, Eugene OR; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Stoops, step-father Roger "Tiny" Nordman, mother Marlene Nordman, sister Brenda Newell and uncle Dale Crandall.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 2:00 pm on October 26, 2025 at Sioux Falls Hope Church, with a potluck to follow.
