Darryl Allen Stoops, of Honor, peacefully passed away on September 11, 2025. He was born on February 22, 1961, the cherished son of the late Roosevelt and Dorothy Stoops.
Darryl is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Chrisandra "Chris"; his children, Tim and Renee Stoops and Amanda Cunningham; and his three treasured granddaughters, Jade, Lexis, and Mya Cunningham. He also leaves behind his sister, Diane (Larry) Elie; his nieces, Becky and Melanie; his nephews, Jason, Devan, Korbyn, and Davis; as well as his sister-in-law, Sue Hamilton.
Darryl and Chris married in 1979 and together built a beautiful life raising their three children.
Family was always at the center of his heart. One especially joyful memory was the time his sister Diane took Darryl, Chris and Renee to a Detroit Tigers game, a day filled with laughter, excitement.
He had a passion for collecting sports cards and old coins, often with music by KISS or Madonna playing in the background. Darryl's sense of humor was one of a kind-sometimes it was hard to know if he was joking or being serious, though most would agree he was rarely ever serious. His lighthearted spirit brought laughter and warmth to everyone who knew him.
More than anything, Darryl loved spending time with his family and close friends. If you were special to him, you felt it, he lit up with joy in your presence. A gentle, kind-hearted man, Darryl will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 17 at Jowett Family Funeral Home. The visitation will be beginning at 11:30 am. Burial will be at Benzonia Township Cemetery. Arrangements with Jowett Family Funeral Home.
