Sean Anthony Aveni, age 35, of Camp Hill, PA and formerly of Johnstown, PA went to be with the Lord and his grandparents on Thursday, May 1, 2025 with his loving mother Anita, by his side. Sean was born on October 28, 1989, in Johnstown, PA to Anita M. (Holtzman) Aveni of Camp Hill, PA and Mark R. Aveni of Johnstown, PA. He is a 2008 graduate of Johnstown High School, Johnstown, PA and a 2010 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill, PA. Sean was an extraordinary soul who, from birth, faced countless challenges and beat many odds due to Spina Bifida.
Sean is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Patrick (Pappap) and Carolyn (Mommysmom) (McGuire) Holtzman, his fraternal grandparents Anthony and Shirley (Nesmith) Aveni, his cousins Alexis Holtzman and Norah Sourbeer and his puppy Rebound.
Sean is survived by his amazing mom Anita, who was his world and he hers. His loving dad Mark who he enjoyed texting every day. He is also survived by his Aunt KK (Mary Kay) and Uncle Bill Tkacs, Aunt Mickey and Uncle Mitch Sourbeer, Uncle PT (Patrick II) and Aunt Becky Holtzman, Uncle John and Aunt Terri Aveni, and his Uncle Tony Aveni. In addition, Sean is survived by cousins Elmo (Brandon) Holtzman, Logan Holtzman, Amber Parris, Jayden Wiltz, Arianah Wiltz, Steven (Lyta) Sourbeer, Jaxon Sourbeer, Holden Sourbeer, Owen Sourbeer, Brian (LeAnne) Sourbeer, Lila Sourbeer, Devin Kempfer, Kaylee (Simon) Barbel, Ashton Holtzman, Olivia Aveni and Christina Aveni. Sean also leaves behind his beloved puppies: Calamity (Booboo) and Bear.
Sean treasured playing Skipbo with his Pappap. He enjoyed his food and making hamburgers and waffles for others. He spent his days filling his pill bottles with his smarties and gummies, copying his medical notes and playing games on his phone. He had the fastest fingers in the east and if he had your number look-out, the texts were coming your way. He loved playing with his puppies and enjoyed being outside waiting for the neighbors to walk their dogs so he could give them treats. He looked forward to camping and annual family vacations. He cherished getting texts from his mom letting him know she made it to work safely and waited anxiously for her to get home to sit and chat with him about each other’s day.
Sean, you were an incredible young man, you touched the hearts of everyone you came in contact with. You loved with all your heart and deeply cared about the feelings of others. You made people smile and laughed with them, not at them (well sometimes). You were our rock, and the most amazing son any mother and father could ever have. You made the world a better place and you will remain forever in our hearts until we see you again healthy and running in heaven. We love you Sean, infinite hugs and kisses Mom and Dad.
Sean’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Jenna Barger an incredible friend, Danielle Walker and Dana Green, the best-ever care providers, Dr. Prabhjot Singh, of Hershey Medical Center, the Cardio Vascular Intensive Care Unit, Respiratory and Critical Care staffs from Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital, and the Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory for the outstanding care they all provided and compassion they displayed during this most difficult time.
