Sean "Nickie" Nicolette Lammie, 44, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at her home at Anne Grady. She was born on November 19, 1980 in
Toledo, Ohio to Sean and Brenda Lammie.
Weeks after she was born her parents realized that something was not quite right. It was soon discovered that Nickie was having seizures and was born with irreversible brain damage. From that moment on our family knew that Nickie's life would not be easy. Days soon filled with doctor appointments, blood tests, scans, therapy, medications, surgeries and long days of recoveries. And it was hard. In fact, that is the response our family is given most often when others meet, or learn of Nickie. That it must be so hard for our family to have a child like Nickie.
However, what they fail to understand is that Nickie's health and impairments were hard for her, but Nickie herself was never "hard". Nickie was a bright light that shone in our family. She rarely ever cried, in fact in her younger years she had a belly laugh that was contagious to anyone who heard it. She loved playing with her toys, her favorite being a cheerleading pom-pom that she would usually drop, just so you had to pick it up for her again. She had a sweet tooth and if you weren't careful she would steal the dessert right off your plate. Nickie loved being pushed for walks in the sun, floating in a swimming pool or lake and cuddling up for a nice nap under an afghan. Curled up on a lap or the floor is where you were most likely to find her. She yelled and made noise, which we called talking. If you didn't stop to talk to her she would yell louder to get your attention. She hated getting her haircut, or being told what to do and she let you know with a fierce side eye. Nickie showed us her love through hugs, smiles and her ability to find you anywhere on the floor and lean on you.
Nickie taught our family so much about empathy and love without even saying a word. She was often the glue that brought our family together and we loved her fiercely. Throughout her life Nickie was a member of the Sunshine Community, as well as Anne Grady. The last three years of her life Anne Grady was her permanent home. Our family will never be able to repay the love and care that the aides and nurses showed her there.
Nickie is survived by her mother, Brenda Lammie and two sisters Michealene Malin and Kyle (Shane) Fellers. She is also survived by her three nieces, Lillian Malin, Leah Malin, Ainsley Fellers and nephew Oliver Fellers. For the last 20 years Nickie was also lucky enough to have Angel Frye as a caretaker and adopted family member. Nickie was preceded in death by her father, Sean Lammie.
The family will receive friends on Friday March 21, 2025 from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the Thos. I. Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 N. Reynolds Rd.
