Sebastian P. "Busty" Palazzola, 85, of Gloucester, husband of Josephine (Palazola) Palazzola, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, January 9, 2013 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gloucester on September 9, 1927, son of the late Vito and Anna (Saputo) Palazzola. He served as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy during WWII (Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii) having received the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal. Busty was employed as a mason for many years for the City of Gloucester, Department of Public Works. He also worked as a commercial fisherman on numerous fishing vessels out of Gloucester. He was a member the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, Gloucester American Legion having served as Commander for 2 years and also a member the St. Peter's Club, where he was known for helping to assemble and decorate at the Fiesta. Busty was the "Fiesta". He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Josephine Palazola; his loving daughter, Anna Maria Palazzola and his loving son, Vito "Billy" Palazzola all of Gloucester; two sisters, Kathleen Scola and her husband John Sr. of Gloucester and Frances Cavanaugh and her husband James of Florida; three sisters-in-law, Grace Lumbruno and her husband George of Gloucester, Peggy Pallazola and her husband Cosmo of Manchester, MA and Margie Pallazola of Gloucester; his loving dog, Lady and cat, Coco and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sons, Joseph and Christopher Palazzola; two brothers, Joseph Palazzola and his wife Jean and Vito Palazzola and his wife Jean; nephew, Joseph Sinagra; niece, Vinnie Pallazola; brothers-in-law, Jerome Pallazola and James Sinagra; sister-in-law, Rosie Sinagra; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vincie and Joseph Pallazola. His funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Monday, January 14, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home are on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. Online condolences may be given at www.greelyfuneralhome.com
