Seldon Welch, Jr. was born on June 21, 1931 in Lake, Mississippi, the son of the late Seldon and Lena Wood Welch. At the age of 3, his family relocated to the Counce, Tennessee area where he lived for the remainder of his life.
In February of 1955, he was united in marriage to Doris M. Robertson. Seldon and Doris were married for 66 years when she preceded her husband in death on September 1, 2021.
His father was a farmer and Seldon began working on his father's farm at an early age. He was a hard worker and liked to stay busy. He could often be found working outside and mowing his yard. Seldon was also a supporter of Freedom River Media and enjoyed watching them on tv.
Seldon Welch, Jr. departed this life on January 18, 2025 in Counce, Tennessee at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 28 days.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Welch Martin (Tommy); son, Ricky Welch; sister, Gweneth Turberville (Carl); grandchildren, Brooke Martin Wright and Matthew Welch; and great grandson, Jacob "Jake" Martin.
In addition to his parents and wife, Seldon was preceded in death by his brothers, Oliver Welch (Cynthia) and Joseph (Tom) Welch; sisters, Arzie Long (Hubert), Ilene Rice (James E.), Evelyn Rice (Cecil), Ruth Faulkner (Rudolph), Ora Foster (Howard), Reubena Johnson (Wesley), and Irene Locke (Wilmer); and grandson, Bradley Steven Martin.
