Serge Trenet, 55, of
Eatontown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2026. Born on February 6, 1971, in
Red Bank, New Jersey, Serge was a miracle from the very beginning, having survived childhood brain cancer with a strength and resilience that would define the rest of his remarkable life.
A proud graduate of Keyport High School, Serge was a football player who helped his team win the state championship during his senior year. That competitive spirit never left him, though in later years it showed up most often around the card table, where games of Poker, May I, Phase 10, Uno, and Thirteen could stretch into hours filled with laughter, teasing, and pure joy. Despite the challenges life presented him, Serge never complained. He met every day with a smile, a positive attitude, and a selfless heart.
For 35 years, Serge worked proudly as a night clerk at Stop & Shop in Middletown, New Jersey, where his warmth and dependability made him a valued member of the team. You never had to ask Serge whether he would show up for a holiday gathering or milestone celebration, big or small. It was simply understood he would be there, even if it meant coming straight from a long night of stocking shelves. He was generous, considerate, and kind to everyone he encountered, often firing up the grill to cook hot dogs and burgers and inviting his neighbors to join him.
Serge's quick wit and sense of humor were contagious. He loved good food, family time, watching sports and game shows and spending quiet moments at home with his beloved cat Parker, whom he proudly walked outside on a leash. In recent years, he especially looked forward to vacations with his sister and her family upstate, where he would wake up early to hop on the tractor and mow acres of grass in the open field.
Serge was preceded in death by his father, Serge P. Trenet and devoted mother Patricia Trenet; his grandfather Frank Angelo Dorsi; his grandparents Lucien and Ida Trenet; his uncle John Dorsi; and his aunt Diane Dorsi. He is survived by his grandmother Corrine Dorsi; his sister, Jacqueline Sanford; his brother-in-law Walter Sanford; his niece Amanda Foley and her husband Sean Foley; his niece Brianna Sanford; his great-nieces Kaleah and Elliana Williams; his great-nephew Colin Foley; his uncles Frank Dorsi, Gary Dorsi, and Richard Dorsi; his aunt Cherie Quinn; their spouses; his aunt Yolanda Ruggiero; and many loving cousins and dear friends.
Serge was our miracle who brought joy to all who crossed paths with him throughout his life. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, make a short story long, smile warmly, and make us laugh until we cried. Serge was adored by his family, especially his "Sista," and will be deeply missed. May he rest peacefully in the loving arms of God.
Catholic mass and Celebration of Life details will follow in the coming weeks.
