In Loving Memory - Seth Robert Coon - Big Rapids
Seth Robert Coon, 74 of Big Rapids, passed away June 17th, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on September 7th, 1949, to Elvert and Alma Coon in Big Rapids, Michigan and attended Big Rapids schools. On September 9th, 1967, Seth married the love of his life, Vickie (Victoria Spaugh), who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Phillip (Kathy) Coon and Bruce Coon, and one sister, Ruth Ann Rogers. Seth is survived by two sisters, Mary Cox and Elaine Sanford. He leaves behind two children, James Coon of Rodney, and Leanne Coon Hamilton (Bryan) of Reed City. Seth is also survived by three grandchildren, Michelle Coon Ford of Mt. Pleasant, Joshua Coon (Megan) of Cadillac, and Christopher Coon (Amanda) of Big Rapids.
Seth was well known in the community for being the "best" mechanic around and was known for giving his friends the best care for their vehicles. He would often enjoy a ride on his 1952 Harley Davidson Servi-Car during summer months, with Vickie along for the outing. A loving grandpa, he shared his love for turning scraps into something wonderful, and always had wint-o-green lifesavers in every car for his beloved grandchildren, who often accompanied him to the parts stores. Folks were always amazed at what he built or repaired in his garage.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home on Warren Avenue in Big Rapids. Family will receive friends in the hour preceding the service. A celebration of life with luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Green Charter Township Hall in Paris, Michigan, following the service.
