Shane M. Monroe, a life-long Beacon resident, passed away on March 14, 2024 at the Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh; at the age of 54. He was born in Beacon, NY on January 26, 1970, son of the Judith A. (Robinson) Monroe and the late Samuel R. Monroe Sr.. Shane graduated from Beacon High School, class of 1987.

During and after high school, Shane worked for several years at the Southern Dutchess Bowling Alley which he loved. He was an avid bowler, competed in travel tournaments; was very proud of his ‘Perfect Games’ which he had a few. Shane also worked in maintenance and was a machine operator at Unico Special Products in Beacon for several years too. He was a former active member of the Slate Chemical Fire Company in Glenham.

Along with his loving mother, Judith Monroe, Shane is survived by his two brothers, Samuel Monroe Jr. and his partner Kim Bankowitz; Timothy Monroe and his wife Lisa, all of Beacon. He is also survived by his 4 nieces and 2 nephews: Christopher, Elizabeth, Zachary, Lyndsay, Marilyn, Jessica ; his 10-great nieces & nephew: Mikayla, Christian, Finley, Nicholas, Adalyn-Rose, Riley, Cooper, Levi, Avery & Jaxon.  He will also be remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins: Michael, Duane, Analean, Sherry, and especially, Megan & Miranda Gillen.

His Family will gather on Tuesday, March 19th from 3-7pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, where a service will be offered 6PM. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family. The Family wishes for memorial donations to be made to the Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corp. PO Box 54, 1 Arquilla Dr. Beacon, NY 12508.
