It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shane Matthew Rains, who departed this life on October 23, 2025, at the age of 45. Born on February 13, 1980, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Denny D. Rains and the late Sherry L. (nee Kuhn) Rains. Shane was a beloved son, father, and friend to many.
Shane was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about the Cincinnati Bengals. He loved the thrill of the game, finding joy and camaraderie in cheering for his team. Beyond sports, Shane had a penchant for puzzles, video games-especially those from the beloved Zelda and Nintendo franchises-and fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and happiness.
Known for his remarkable sense of humor, Shane could light up any room with laughter. His personality was versatile; he could be outgoing and engage with everyone around him or enjoy moments of quiet reflection depending on the situation. More than anything, Shane's love for his children was immeasurable; they were his greatest treasures and his motivation in life.
Shane is survived by his father Denny Rains; Loving father of Cameron Rains, Corey Rains, Dakota Stone, Caytie (Daniel) Kasongo, and Grayson Rains; Dear brother of Darrell (Tammy) Rains and the late Rhonda Rains; Cherished nephew of Bill Kuhn. Shane is also survived by nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Shane's loving spirit and passion for life will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Evans Funeral Home in Milford, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, where we will honor Shane's life and the joy he brought to so many.
