Publish in a newspaper

Shanna Rae (Card) Swink (age 82) of Yukon passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025. Shanna was born on January 8, 1943 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Marvin and Mary Jo Card. Her dad worked for Gulf Oil and so her childhood was shaped by frequent moves. Shanna graduated from Duncan High School and attended college at East Central State University where she met Harold Swink. The two were married in June of 1964.

In 1966, Shanna became a proud mother with the birth of their daughter Kristi, followed by the birth of their son Kurt in 1970. While Harold pursued his seminary studies, Shanna opened up a mobile sandwich shop serving students on campus. Shanna embraced the adventure of being a pastor's wife moving with her family to various towns across Oklahoma including Fittstown, Springer/Gene Autry, Lawton, Bartlesville, and Braman.

In 1977, the family settled in Edmond, Oklahoma, where Shanna worked at TG&Y Headquarters and later at the OU Health Sciences Center. Following her divorce, her sister Diana and nephew Josh moved in and together they helped each other out raising the children. This close knit family dynamic became a central part of Shanna's life, and she cherished the bond with her sister as they worked side by side in nurturing their family and enjoying life together.

Shanna eventually took early retirement to care for her aging parents, embodying the love and devotion that characterized her entire life. In 2003, Shanna and her sister Diana moved to Yukon so they could help raise their granddaughter, Courtney. During this time, Shanna also spent precious moments with her grandsons, Tyler and Korbyn, who brought her so much joy. She loved her grandchildren dearly and cherished every opportunity to be with them.

Shanna was also an adventurous spirit who enjoyed the company of her friends at the First United Methodist Church of Yukon. Together, they created lasting memories and shared many experiences that filled her life with joy. In honor of her love for her church community, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First United Methodist Church's new Senior Adult Ministry Program.

Shanna is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mary Jo Card. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Diana Fisher, her daughter Kristi Swink, her son Kurt Swink and daughter-in-law Wendy, her nephew Josh Fisher and wife Liz, her granddaughter Courtney, her grandsons Tyler and Korbyn and her cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Shanna's life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Yukon, Oklahoma, on Monday, September 22nd at 10:00 a.m.
