Shannon Marie Blake

It is with profound sadness that the family of Shannon Marie Blake of Rougemont, NC announces her passing on September 9, 2024 at the age of 47.

Shannon was born in September of 1976 to Louis and Kimberly Blake in Durham, NC. She spent much of her life in Granville County, graduating from South Granville High School in Creedmoor and then attending Peace College in Raleigh.

From an early age, Shannon exhibited a gentle warmth, compassion and a zest for life that was evident to all who knew her. She possessed a vibrant and effervescent spirit and was happiest when spending time with her extended family and many friends. A life-long love of animals fueled her passionate devotion to her precious Shih Tzus, Buster and O.T. Shannon enjoyed tending her rock garden, listening and dancing to her favorite music, avidly supporting her Tar Heels, and displaying her fantastic cooking abilities to all lucky enough to partake. She was known for her good sense of humor and her distinctive, contagious laughter, which she inherited from her mother. Shannon valued her roots and was deeply committed to her family, having been inspired by her maternal grandmother, Shirley Collins, whom she adored.

Shannon is preceded in death by her father, Ollie Louis Blake and her mother, Kimberly Riley Carden. She is survived by her siblings Britney, Hunter and Angel, and her nephew Tycen. She also leaves behind cherished aunts, uncles, and several cousins, as well as many close friends who will all miss her terribly but feel truly blessed for having known her. "Rest easy, Killa."

A celebration of Shannon's life will be on September 28th at 2pm at 3306 Creech Rd., Durham, NC 27704. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to ChancesAngelRescue.org in Rougemont in Shannon's memory.
