Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Chapel - Fort Smith on Jan. 20, 2023.
Shannon Lee Hubbard was born in
Freeport, Texas, on August 21st, 1973, at 7:12 PM. Shannon was born into this world by her mother, Elizabeth Welsh Carnes, and her father, Larry Carnes. On January 12th, 2023 at 3:17 AM, she went to be with her Lord and Savior. Shannon fought a long and powerful fight that will forever be a testimony to everyone that witnessed her fight. A battle against Triple Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer for SIX long years. A big part of those years was stage 4, the worst stage. Shannon was a WARRIOR. Before she was born, she had four brothers that helped make her strong and protect her; Larry Carnes, John Carnes, Robert Bacon, and Jay Bacon. Shannon lived in
Freeport, Texas; Red Oak, Pocola, and
Wilburton, Oklahoma; Van Buren,
Fort Smith, Arkansas, and attended schools in each city. She had her first child, Justin Carnes July 23rd, 1990. Four years after, Shannon gave birth to her daughter Nicole Jackson on September 26th, 1994. She started working at The Dixie Cafe, where she met the man would spend the rest of her life with, Anthony Hubbard, who she married five years later. They had a son named Cory Hubbard on October 3rd, 2000. Shannon married Anthony Hubbard, on July 4th, 2001, and they had a beautiful wedding and have been married for 21 years now. Shortly after, she had her youngest baby, Andrew Hubbard, on January 25th, 2002. When her two youngest were born she graduated from UAFS and received her Associate of Arts degree on August 6th, 2010. Even after raising 4 children and taking care of her household while her husband worked, cooking and cleaning, and making sure her children felt her love and grace, she managed to also finish her degree. If it was not for her loving her career in Property Management, she would have gone to school even longer to pursue further education. Shannon would give no less than 1000% effort every day, even until her last day. Shannon's fighting spirit was something that will never be forgotten. She had a fire inside of her that would not burn out and she was as fierce as a Lion when it came to the people she loved and what she was passionate about, a light that will never go out.
Shannon worked at so many places, from picking berries when she was younger, to helping her grandparents with whatever they needed. Her favorite berry to pick was blackberries. She loved helping her Grandma, Maggie Welsh, who she adored and cherished, sell different items and bargain with people from across Arkansas and Oklahoma. Shannon worked so many places to provide for her family and the people she loved over her life. To name a few places Shannon talked about a lot and made so many memories, met some of her lifelong friends that helped her through some of her worst times: Midwest Enamelers, known as SPF America now, OK Foods, The Bonanza Steakhouse, Dixie Cafe, Chili's, Superior Bank, Arvest Bank, First Lutheran, Howard Johnson/Event Center, Hertz, and lastly, she had a long career in being a District Property Management for several apartment complexes and property manager companies across the Arkansas's River Valley and Northwest Arkansas area. Lastly, the company she worked for before she passed and that had been so good to her was United Properties Management. Shannon was loved and cherished by all who met and knew her. She wanted to help all of the people in the apartment complexes or anywhere she was at. Shannon would often be at work, sometimes more than home, because Shannon wanted to make sure everyone that met her was taken care of if we could manage. That is how she was as a person. Wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, friend, whatever title Shannon received on this earth, Shannon was the best at that title and an example to others.
Shannon has survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Anthony Hubbard, her oldest son Justin Carnes (32), daughter Nicole Jackson (28), son Cory Hubbard (22), son Andrew Hubbard (20), 3 year old grandchild Everette Carnes (3), her mother, all of her brothers, mother and father-in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and so many loved ones. Shannon had so much love and support that helped her survive as long as she did. All the Glory to God for that.
