Services are Saturday, Mar. 16, 2024, at 3755 Fannett Rd Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until Funeral at 10AM. Interment will be in Kirby Cemetery Silsbee, TX.
Shareka was born on March 28, 1972, in Silsbee, TX, to Ricky Smith and Barbara Wicks.
Shareka attended Westbrook Senior High School and upon graduation in 1990, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years. Shareka began Cosmetology school, but decided her passion was in nursing. Shareka received her Registered Nursing license and began what she loved to do, helping others. Upon her departure, she was employed with Christus Health and worked in the CVICU unit.
Shareka was married to Cedric Broussard on October 17, 2000, and to this union her one and only child, Devin Broussard, was born.
Shareka later married Durlin Donald on February 21, 2012, and shared many loving memories.
Shareka was very passionate about what she believed in. She was a strong advocate for those with diabetes. She worked with Dr. Debra Williams on community education programs to help educate diabetics who had no insurance or were underinsured. She also assisted at numerous health fairs by distributing training materials and helped enroll clients in classes.
The Gift of Life was an event she thoroughly had a devoted love for. She was a dedicated advocate who heightened ovarian cancer awareness with an extraordinary voice of encouragement for others as she battled herself. She exuded a compassionate spirit that touched so many.
Shareka was the life of the party. She loved family gatherings and hosting events. She loved a good line dance and was the best teacher! Shareka's smile and presence would light up any room she entered.
Shareka was a devoted member of Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church where she served on the former young adult usher board.
Shareka leaves to cherish her memories: husband: Durlin Donald (Beaumont, TX); son: Devin Broussard (Fayetteville, NC); father, Ricky Smith; stepmother: Andrea Smith (Silsbee, TX); mother: Barbara Wicks; stepfather: Mycal Wicks (Beaumont, TX); two sisters: LaShea Smith (Houston, TX), Rikki Jones (Joseph) (Beaumont, TX); two stepbrothers: Robert Arline Jr. (Arkisha) (Beaumont, TX), Jarrett Wheeler (Silsbee, TX); two nieces: Ryleigh Pam, Parker Pam (Beaumont, TX); two nephews: Bryce Minnard (Beaumont, TX), Jaxon Vital (Houston, TX); Goddaughter: Jailynn Jackson (Silsbee, TX); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
