Sharis Boden Hegwood, 83, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025 at her home.
Sharis was born August 11, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Wallace Dean Boden and the late Elwanda Rose Boden.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hegwood.
"Known to everyone as “CC”—a nickname her first grandchild gave her when he couldn’t quite pronounce “Ms. C”—she was the heart of her family — fiercely loyal, endlessly generous, and full of warmth.
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, CC made the decision during her senior year of high school to attend Cosmetology School, where she would graduate and build a highly successful career as a hairstylist. Later in her life, she returned to school to take business classes, which brought her to taking a position working as an Administrative Assistant in the Human Resources Department at Baptist Hospital of Memphis. CC devoted over 30 years to the Baptist Hospital and retired at the age of 70, a testament to her work ethic and her strong dedication.
As much as she loved her career, CC’s real joy came from being with the people she loved and held close to her heart. She is remembered for treasuring her fishing and camping adventures with her husband, Michael. CC's partner in crime was known to be her faithful dog, Ginger, who was never far from her side. She had a true Southern soul, which was evident in the love she poured into her cooking —her banana pudding and collard greens were family favorites and what she was most known for.
CC lived with passion, laughed often, and loved deeply, leaving behind a legacy of comfort, strength, and unforgettable meals."
A private chapel service will be held for family and close friends.
Survivors include her children, Penny Corzine Troutman (John) of Mount Pleasant, NC and son, William Dean Corzine (Elaine) of Lakeland, TN; grandchildren, Bryan Croom, Amanda Smith (Adam), Jason Walker (Lisa), and Brandon Walker (August); and 10 great-grandchildren.
In memory of CC and her loving legacy, the family asks that you spread an act of kindness, a caring hug, or even a simple smile.
