Providence - Sharon Ann (Kennedy) Canup, 80, passed away peacefully at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, RI, on Monday, May 5, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Clyde A. Canup, the couple married on November 18, 1967.
Born in Providence, RI, on March 28, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Margaret (Delaney) Kennedy. Sharon had resided in Providence since August of 2017, and previously resided in Pawtucket, Narragansett and Pawcatuck, Connecticut. While her husband was serving in the United States Navy, she resided in South Carolina. Sharon was employed at Paramount Cards, Pawtucket, where she developed her love for greeting cards. In addition, she would create cards for the people at her dialysis, Fresenius Kidney Care in Providence.
Sharon was a member of the former South Assembly of God, now Crossroads International Church and served in ministries along with her husband.
She is survived by three sisters, Patricia Kennedy, Susan Gaucher and Phyllis Burgess. Sharon was predeceased by her brother, Hugh Kennedy; sisters, Mary "Peg" Bouffard, Maureen Lachapelle and her twin sister, Sheila Ann Kennedy; sister-in-law, Carole Kennedy, as well as all her brothers-in-law. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and her dear friends, Joanne Cook, Mary and Tom England, Dan Head and Theresa Arnold.
A special thank you to Todd Sisson of Fresenius and all the loving and caring staff; to Lola and those at Elmhurst that took extra time and care for Sharon.
