Sharon L. Merchant

Sharon L. Merchant, 86, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Saturday December 21, 2024 at her residence, following an extended illness. She was born on October 12, 1938 in Ross County, the daughter of Wilbur and Louise (Chenault) Haley.
Surviving are her children, Christopher (Desili) Baker, Batavia; and Julie (John) Gabriel, Cincinnati; grandchildren, Ashley, Nikki, Samantha, Kylie, Will, and Kate, great-grandchildren, Benny, Madalynn, Cole, and Makynzie, and best friend and caregiver, Mary Rusk. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Karen Baker, son, Michael Scott Baker, and brother, Tom Haley.
Sharon had retired from the Ross County Educational Service Center, as the secretary to the Superintendent. She was an avid reader and loved her vacations to Key West, FL after the holidays.
The family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to the nurses and staff of NCR Hospice, and her caregivers for over a year, Tess Fawley and Suzanne Cryder, for their wonderful care of Sharon.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday January 4, 2025 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Ryan Bevan, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
