Sharon L. Moritz, of Harleysville, passed away on Friday February 23, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Ronald Moritz, also of Harleysville. They had recently moved into the Peter Becker Community, where they hoped to spend many years together.
Sharon was born June 29, 1945, in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Morton L. Long and Betty B. Long. She is survived by her sisters Pamela Sharp and Kim Wisniewski and her brother Morton Long.
Sharon graduated from Hatboro Horsham High School, class of '63, and attended Keystone Junior College in La Plume, PA. Sharon was a cheer leader at Hatboro HS and studied and taught Ballet 'en' pointe.
She worked as a secretary at Philco Corp. in Ft. Washington, as a receptionist and later a real estate agent at Dager & Dager in Spring House, PA and as a school monitor at Souderton Area HS.
Sharon loved to spend time with family. Sharon and Ron share 6 children, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren (the 7th due in July). Sharon is known as 'Lolly' and Ron as 'Pop'.
Sharon was predeceased by her daughter Kimberly McKeon, and is survived by her daughters Kelly Schwartz, Robin Swope, Amy McCann and her step-sons Ronald Moritz Jr. and Todd Moritz. Surviving grandchildren include Brianne Swope, Travis Swope, Kristina Peterson, Tyler McKeon, Jeremy Metzler, Hannah McKeon, Jamie Swope, Logan Moritz, Carley McCann, Taylor Moritz & Amanda McCann. Surviving great-grandchildren include, Jason Myers, Kinsley Zwann, King Swope, Savannah Swope, Mylo Zwann and Olivia Peterson.
Sharon and Ron were looking forward to their 50th wedding anniversary on April 20th and had scheduled a cruise to Alaska to celebrate the big day.
Sharon was a loving, beautiful and gentle person. She had a special talent for decorating, design and for style. Friends and family would always ask for her input when it came time to decorate their homes. Sharon just knew what looked right.
She would never leave the house unless everything looked perfect: her hair, her nails, her make-up and her clothes.
Sharon loved Hershey almond bars covered with peanut butter; she loved a "Jim Dandy" sundae at Friendly's and also Hennings pound cakes with buttercream icing. Everything was good when she was warm and her cats were near her. She had a sense of humor that was second only to her mother's and when she laughed, really laughed, she couldn't stop laughing.
She enjoyed watching the Phillies and was in the park when Tug McGraw pitched the winning game in the 1980 World Series.
Memorial services will be held at Peter Becker Community, Maplewood Estates, 815 Maplewood Drive, Harleysville, PA 19438 on Saturday March 9, 2024, at 11:00 am. A private luncheon will follow.
