Sharon "Layne" Smith

Sharon (Layne) Smith, age 70, resident of Kimper, KY, Transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday evening February 14, 2026. Sharon was born in Williamson, WV on August 22, 1955, she was the daughter to the late Jack and Bessie (Coleman) Layne.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Bobby Layne; A special nephew Terry Casey; Two brothers in law Clinton Casey and Glen (Bill Buck) Smith, and sister in law Kathy Layne.

Sharon was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She had a passion for reading books. She faithfully read and studied the bible. She also loved to sing and play piano for the Lord. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, faith and devotion to her family.

Sharon is survived by her children Carrie Smith and Jason Smith; one beloved granddaughter, Zemirah Nirye Webb. Her children and grandchild were her pride and joy.

She is also survived by five sisters JoAnn Casey, Lossie (Perry) Casey, Mag (Jenis) Smith, Kay (Mike) Smith, and Jackie Smith. Two brothers Frank (Ann) Layne, and Danny Layne; and Sister in law Mary Lou Layne. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews to honor her memory.

Honoring services will be held on February 19, 2026 in the Versailles Church of God 276-296 Douglas Ave. Versailles, KY 40383 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:oo p.m. with service beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Frank Layne Officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Crest Cemetery of Versailles, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
