Mrs. Sharon Westmoreland Sparger, age 79, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born on February 11, 1945 in Surry County to the late Carl and Mary Louise Chappell Westmoreland. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are a son, Derek Sparger (Lyn); grandchildren, David Sparger, Amber Bingman (Luke); sister, Brenda Ayers, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Sparger was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Sparger, sister, Billie Nell Hiatt. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Mount Bethel Moravian Church with service conducted by Rev. Charles Fishel and Acolyte Bruce Ayers. A private burial will be at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time for the service at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Sparger to the Salem Unted Church Cemetery Fund, 2591 Wards Gap Rd, Mt Airy, NC 27030.
