Sharon Sutters Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chafin Funeral Home - Delbarton on Apr. 15, 2025.
Sharon Lynn (Dempsey) Sutters, age 72, of Lenore, WV went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, April 14, 2025, following a sudden illness. Sharon was born on May 23, 1952 in Holden, WV, daughter of the late Edward and Shirlene (Dillon) Dempsey.
She began her career as a Teacher's Aide in 1972 and retired after 42 years of loyal service to the children in the Mingo County School system. Her love of children reached not only to those through her formal employment, but also to those who lived in her local community and especially to those in her home church at Parsley Bottom Free Will Baptist. Sharon also loved to sing and enjoyed singing with her mom and dad, as well as with other family members and friends.
In her younger days, Sharon spent much of her time entertaining her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved and adored. Much of this entertainment involved listening to Ray Stevens music on an 8-track tape while cruising down the highway in one of her many cars, that more often than not ended up as junk due to her many "fender benders."
After having her one and only son, Brandon Edward, Sharon's love was focused on him and raising him up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Her dedication to Brandon was later rewarded through the birth of her grandson, Gavin. There was nothing she enjoyed more than the blessing of being called "Gammy Sharon." Sharon is also well known for her collection of funeral home pens, many of which were donated by Steve Cook personally.
In addition to her son Brandon and her daughter-in-law Lisa Sutters, Sharon is survived by grandchildren Gavin, Abby, and Jace. She is also survived by her two older brothers, Roger Dempsey of Millersport, Ohio and Merle (Sherry) Dempsey of Huntington, WV; her nephews Glenn (Robin) Dempsey, Gary (Juanita) Dempsey, Greg (Denise) Dempsey; her nieces Christina (Keith) Madden, Jennifer (Eric) Brumfield, Jamie (Joshua) Butcher; and her many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Sharon will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Parsley Bottom Free Will Baptist Church in Lenore, WV beginning at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Parsley Bottom Church on Friday at 1:00 p.m. by Pastor Matthew Runyon and Brother Tommy Dempsey. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV.
