Sharon Drew Topp
Sharon, age 79, passed away on February 24, 2025. She was born to Alan and Martha Drew, survived by younger siblings Mary Drew, Heidi Drew, Chaz Drew (recently deceased) and Jenny Drew Moxley.
Sharon was mother to Julie Dean Parfrey (Richard Parfrey) and Frederick Drew Dean. She was a loving grandmother (affectionately called "Gummy Gramma") to Brooke Gonzalez (David Gonzalez), Joelle McCauley (John McCauley), and Grant Parfrey, as well as Jane, Thomas, Linus, and Edward Dean. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Calvin (2) and Olivet (1), born to Brooke and David.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Greenwich Academy (Class of 1963) and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in art history from Northwestern University in 1967 while actively participating in the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
In 1968, she worked as a librarian on a U.S. Army base in South Korea while her first husband, Captain Fred Dean, served as a physician. After returning to the United States, she worked as an administrator for a psychologist in Houston, Texas, before welcoming twins, Rick and Julie. In 1972, the family moved to South Bend, Indiana, where she built a home filled with cherished traditions. She was a long-time member of the Junior League of South Bend and had a strong love of animals, especially giraffes.
After moving to Madison, WI in 1990 to be closer to her daughter, Sharon was married to the late Allan Topp and together they enjoyed many years of playing tennis, traveling, and hosting together. Sharon was also a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Madison.
During her final months, Sharon was well cared for by her family with the help of many caring staff at Discovery Commons Brookfield as well as Legacy Hospice. The family is very grateful for their faithful service and kindness during that time.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at WOODRIDGE COMMUNITY CHURCH, 13800 West Howard Avenue,
New Berlin, WI. Visitation 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM, 1:00 PM Service followed by Burial, all are invited to dinner at 4:30 PM at New Berlin Ale House, 16000 West Cleveland Ave, New Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Woodridge Community Church (memo section "Adoption and Fostering Fund" to aid families in need while serving as foster parents or for costs associated with adoption).
