Sharon B. Wassom

Sharon B. Wassom, 79, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, December 7, 2023.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, in the chapel at First Baptist Church, with Darrell Burton officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m., in the Quitaque Cemetery in Quitaque, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Sharon was born March 23, 1944, in Plainview, Texas. She lived in and loved Quitaque, Texas and graduated from Quitaque High School in 1962. She attended Wayland Baptist College for 1 1/2 years and married Joel Wassom March 28, 1964. They had 4 children. Sharon later attended Amarillo College and was a nurse at NWTH for 25 years.
Sharon loved the Lord and her church, First Baptist Church Amarillo. She spent her last months at Ware Memorial, where she shared her smile and quick wit with her loving caregivers. She was a good friend, strong shoulder, loving mother, sister, and daughter. She will be greatly missed.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James (Bud) and Charlie Bailey.
Sharon is survived by her children, Joel Wassom (Diana) of Idalou, Lourie Winegar (Tommy) of Lubbock, Angela Clark (Calvin) of Grapevine, James Wassom (Jenny) of Quantico, Virginia; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Devin Wassom, Cameron and Cody Winegar, Blaine Leewright, Bailey Bailey, Jackson and Cooper Wassom; great-grandchildren Ethan, Bentlee and Ellie; sisters, Charlene Rothwell (Gordon) and Janet Bailey; and nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
