Sharron Nicole Bates, age 47, of Calera, Oklahoma, was born in Longview, Texas on February 24, 1977 to Bobby Leon Benton & Dorcus Sue Smith. Sharron was adopted as a young child, and she always felt the utmost gratitude to her birth family for raising and loving her the short time they had her. In 1984 Sharron was sent to live with Gene & Robbie Warley where she was later adopted and raised in Midland, TX, The Woodlands, TX, and Horseshoe Bay, TX areas.
She married Daniel Bates on 7/16/16 in Normandy, Tennessee, Creekside at her mother's home. Sharron was raised in the catholic church and later in life chose to follow another path and started attending LIFE.CHURCH a non-denominational church out of Oklahoma City.
As a young girl, Sharron played Soccer, she loved horses & learned all aspects of the family's Tennessee Walking Horse business & shows, she loved going on family vacations to Hawaii, snow skiing in New Mexico & Colorado, and touring Europe. As a young adult she moved to Durant, OK, where she began her nursing career, and later moved to Yukon, OK where she became the Sharron we all knew and loved. Yukon is where she met her 3 best friends Amber Hand, Tasha Snell & Jamie Goodson. She played an integral part in each of their lives and their kids' lives. She loved being called "Aunt Sharron" and being involved in all their milestones in life.
Sharron became a stepmom to Cadie Bates & Rhylar Bates when she married Daniel in 2016. Sharron loved these 2 as if they were her own. Being a stepmom to Cadie & Rhylar was a title she held close to her heart. She never missed a soccer game or theater production of Cadie's or baseball or football game of Rhylar's. They were a huge part of her world, and she loved them more than anything.
Sharron was a self-proclaimed "Social Butterfly". If she saw you, she would go out of her way just to tell you "Hello" and hug your neck. She was a lover of all music. From the 50s/60s classics that were on her mother's jukebox, to the 80's/90's country, but her favorite was Red Dirt country.
To say Sharron was an animal lover would be an understatement. She would take in any animal that she felt needed love, a home, or anything at all. She had 4 cats Raven, Gypsy, Rory and Lynchburg. She had 4 dogs Daisy, Dahlia, Big Boy and Hank. She loved all of her animals as if they were her children. She was a huge advocate helping local lost animals find their humans. On the Shawn Lane block, where she lived, every animal knew Sharron and loved her.
If you were privileged enough to be a part of her inner circle, you knew she loved you and your family as one of her own. She was a loyal and loving woman. She made sure to surround herself with people that were loyal and loving as well. She was a very patriotic woman and loved her country. She would complete the annual Murph's around our area each year and was always ready to do the Colton's run. She believed in being a good person and doing good in her community. She would help anyone in need, whether it be drink, food or blankets. She helped alongside her sister-in-law with a homeless advocacy group, Boots On The Ground, in Durant, OK.
Sharron obtained her nursing degree in Durant, OK in 1999. Her compassion and caring nature helped her transition smoothly in all aspects of the medical industry from hospice, home health, hospital's and Calera Manor Nursing Home. She was extremely proud of the work she did after the Moore tornado of 2013. She had a wealth of knowledge in caring for the sick and terminally ill patients she took care of. She would be sure to bring cookies to every patient's home when visiting them. She would also bring their dogs treats and she most definitely knew their names. She always attended every service for those who passed away. She formed a connection with all the families she worked with and loved them all.
Sharron was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob's Disease on July 3, 2024. On July 4th, the decision was made to take Sharron home for her remaining days. On this day, her 3 best friends Amber, Tasha & Jamie picked her up in Dallas and proceeded north to Tuttle, OK for their last girl's road trip. Amber, Tasha & Jamie cared for Sharron at Amber's home in her last days with Sharron's family by her side.
On July 11th, Sharron peacefully entered into eternal rest at 9:30am.
Sharron was preceded in death by her biological parents, Bobby Leon Benton & Dorcus Sue Scott-Smith, adopted father Deas Huger "Gene" Warley III, brother Chad Lee Todd, brother William Scott Todd, brother John Paul Benton, sister Sue Marie Pittman, brother Deas Huger "Bruce" Warley IV.
