Shaun C. Hendricks

Shaun Craig Hendricks, 38, of Hastings, died Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital as a result of a stroke with his family at his bedside. He was born March 6, 1972 in Red Cloud the son of L. Craig and Linda (Stueck) Hendricks. He graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1990 and attended college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He came home to work on the family farm with his uncle Rodney Stueck. Later he returned to college at UNK and began employment at Kearney Keno. Shaun transferred to Hastings Keno where he was a supervisor. His coworkers and patrons kindly referred to him as "Speed E". He enjoyed conversing with people of all ages, was a fierce competitor in Texas hold 'em poker and pitch, and was an avid fan of NASCAR racing especially his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Shaun was always ready to share a story, play games or even pull a good prank. He much anticipated his favorite holiday, the 4th of July, to display the loudest and biggest fireworks. His greatest love was adoring his sisters, brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father L. Craig Hendricks, grandmother Helena A. Hendricks, grandfather Duane K. Stueck, step-grandfather Wayne H. Herndon, and uncle Ronnie J. Stueck. He leaves behind his mother Linda Hendricks of Moberly, Missouri; sisters Tracy Kennedy, husband Brian; Lisa Underwood, husband Brent; and Marcie Hendricks all of Hastings, Nebraska; grand-mother Eleanor Stueck of Red Cloud, uncle Rodney Stueck of Red Cloud, nieces Jessica Kennedy, Paige Kennedy, and Payton Hendricks, and nephews Brayden Underwood and Brenson Underwood. Memorial service were held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Joseph Walsh officiating.
