Shauna Marie Atchison

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shauna Marie Atchison, who left us on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the age of 69. Her final moments were full of love at home surrounded by her family, friends, and pups.

Shauna was born on December 29, 1955, in Houston Texas to Charles and Pat Atchison. One of six siblings, she attended and graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. After high school she briefly attended the University of Texas at Austin before working in the oilfield business doing accounting. In retirement she found joy in life's simple pleasures, listening to music, dancing, going to the beach, and spending time with family, friends, and her beloved dogs.

Shauna was a devoted wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her resilience and loving free spirit. Whether offering a listening ear or lending a helping hand, Shauna gave freely and without hesitation. She didn't know a stranger and her door was always open.

Shauna was preceded in death by her father, Charles Atchison, her mother, Pat Atchison, and her brother, Charlie Atchison.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Wade Newby; her daughter, Alicia Young, and son-in-law, Will; her stepdaughter, Amber Newby, and son-in-law, Michael Cooke; her stepson, Wade Newby; her grandchildren: Robert Wilson, Abby Young, Clover Cooke, Dylan Cooke, Chloee Newby, and Kinsley Newby; her sisters: Sharon Mangone and husband Darren Dufraine, Vicki Wheeler and husband Todd, Cindy Williams, Linda Dumas and husband Dave; her many wonderful nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; and her beloved pups Lady and Buster.

Shauna's legacy lives on in the love she gave, and the memories shared by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held at 3pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. All are welcome to join in celebrating her life and sharing stories that reflect the love she gave so freely.
